Sick?!

No Aaron today - he must REALLY be feeling under the weather.

Tasso and Suzanne are keeping it together for you though - so relax!

Mo is on with us and we talk tipping, haircuts, and rude cabbies.

Still had a fun day of prizes and info, I wonder if Aaron will be back tomorrow?

Live from La Stanza

We're here raising money for Generations, and trying to send some needy kids to camp. There's a great atmosphere, and it's a great cause! Come on by if you can...

Oh pot-hole-y night

Potholes back in the news, and a discussion about some of the worst spots in the city starts up. Actually right outside of the station is one of the spots.

Jacques Parizeau is back! He's still upset about this "Mambo Lounge" story - the guy never gives up! At least he taught us a great bit of music trivia; the use of the word "Gavotte" in the song "You're so vain"

Tasso can eat 4 double cheeseburgers at Dic Anne's - and he's being modest!

Pauline Marois calls us with the English word of the day and it's a doozy; "Hootenany" I don't know where she gets these words from.

Top 4 time - chick-lit passages, bad ones.

Karla calls up to tell us about her vacation with Renato; she didn't have the best time let's say.

Lenny gives us his report on the war on potholes.

We are out of here, see you at La Stanza!

"Collectors edition"

How much is gas today? It's crazy-high! Which brings us to oil changes, maintenance and cars in general.

We talk about George Michael coming to town this summer, which came from a conversation about bands that have made a come-back and are still able to draw years later.

Tasso didn't watch American Idol, he was watching a documentary on the Egyptians (what?)

We play back some Idol clips (pretty good, you still watching?)

Aaron has a crack in his wall that has everybody worried (except for Aaron)

"Restless Rubber Soul"

Somehow we get on the discussion that Aaron has moved 7 times in 10 years - seriously!

Time for the French word of the day - today it's: "maganee"

Did you hear about the "Mambo Resto Lounge" story? Jacques Parizeau is on the phone to give his suggestions, and comments etc. He's so helpful.

Aaron played that song by Yael Naim again "New Soul" - which led our old program director Ted Silver to call, but somehow he actually didn't mind Aaron playing a song that wasn't on the list. Interesting.

Lenny called to let us know he's gonna be a little late - at 8:25. His "cats" "Aaron" "Tasso" and "Suzanne" are getting a little out of hand.

See ya!

When?

On what date do you think this snow bank will be shorter than Suzanne? Add your estimations to the comments!

And we're back!

The gang's all here, back from Easter, and a week off.

Do you text message on your phone? Tasso just learned that he can! He had about 50 unanswered messages though, including a really nice one from Aaron.

Did you know that the first color TV was made on this date? In 1954.

Tasso has a couple of invention ideas, but nobody's taking him too seriously.

"Bananada"?

What a weird what's this question. A country that's the name of a food when uncapitalized. Turkey of course!

Alphonso Gagliano is still off today! He didn't come in since it's "Easter Week".

Winnie is on the phone, sick (wah) but fiesty as ever

"Bob Barker"

Mo has some interesting stories about the Jacksons and all of their financial troubles.

That's it for today, good to be back.

While On Holiday...

While the show is on holiday (we're back on Tuesday!), we thought you'd enjoy looking at some viral videos. In fact, the top YouTube Videos of 2007, which were just announced.

Among the millions of videos that get posted online, these were deemed the best in various categories. We actually saw many of the winners over the year, too, and even made reference to them on the show.

Here's a few of the winners:

For "Most Adorable"...

For "Best Comedy", Harry Potter puppet fans will rejoice ("Snape, Snape, Severus Snape...")

And for "Best Instructional", you know can solve a Rubik's Cube while pogo sticking...

And, of course, who can forget the famous "Chocolate Rain"...winner for "Best Music" (really?)

For the rest of the winners, click here

Live from McKibbons

Our annual St. Patrick's Day broadcast and we're having a great time! See you at the parade on Sunday.

Thursday, March 13, 2008

"Say it, don't spray it"

St Patrick's Day is on it's way, and we get ready with a Willy Nilly song to commemorate it.

The Elliot Spitzer story just won't go away - and we're having fun with it!

Daryl and Daryl try to win our what's this question today by changing the lyrics of a song. It didn't work.

To celebrate the translation festival in town, we're playing some translated phrases thanks to our friends over at College Platon.

Lenny is on phone (from home) because his cats won't let him go. We got scared for a minute since he had to hang up quickly, but he called back to tell us how unfriendly the cats really are!

Metro archivist Rejean Levesque is here to tell us about metro Guy-Concordia.

Our Bryan Adams contest is rolling now! Today's winner is a fanatic, she's seen him 7 times!

Aaron's Aunt Marlene is here to bug him about not bringing her to McKibbins for St Pat's.

Todd is in a cheery mood as usual, filling in for Mo one last day.

Winnie has some last instructions for Aaron before St Pat's, I wonder if he's gonna listen...

See ya later!

MasterCard Wedding

We had a few requests for this story. It's probably an Urban Legend, but enjoy!

CLICK ON THE TITLE TO READ IT.

Elephant jokes

What did the grape say to the elephant? Nothing. Grapes can't talk.

We're talking about Horton hears a Who and that brings up a few elephant jokes. Suzanne told us that one...

We're trying to give away our Bryan Adams tickets, but it's pretty tough, you've gotta be a BIG fan.

There's a story in the paper about flooding and roofs caving in the Gazette today, and Mall-State insurance guy John NeGrow calls up for some free publicity. That guy is shameless!

Time for a metro moment, a little history on the Beaudry metro. Who knew? Suzanne actually.

Winnie is bringing Aaron to a party - so she can impress some other clients. Pretty nice of her.

Todd Gakk fills us in with some more entertainment, he'll be here to give us all a headache for the next few days.

Aaron gives us the differences between men and women changing oil. I for one change oil like a woman.

See ya!

Tuesday, Tuesday

Suzanne is here! The snow is getting cleared, slowly but surely, thanks city!

Tasso thinks it's gonna be a great summer. Not for any particular reason, just cuz it sounds good.

Aaron tells us a story about a "MasterCard" wedding. Have you ever heard this story before? I have.

Metro archivist Rejean Levesque is on to give us some history of the Montreal Metro. Pretty interesting what you can learn! He's a nice guy, goes on a bit, but a nice guy none-the-less...

"The 10-minute-facial"

The guys have a great idea for a drive-thru

Popo is here with today's English word of the day! Can you say Hullabaloo?

Hey we just gave away another iPod shuffle AND a chance to go see Bryan Adams in Vancouver. We ALSO gave away Suzanne! (not really)

"The Grappa wasn't flowing"

Renato's here to complain about the snow. Actually not the snow, but the PEOPLE trying to drive in it etc. He was stuck helping "little old ladies" all night Saturday.

Todd Gakk has all your entertainment news this morning, such a happy guy.

Winnie's here after some silliness with sound effects. She got Aaron a snow-blower, that's gonna get here in about 6 weeks...

That's it!

After the storm

Hard to believe, but we STILL have not yet set a record. The interesting thing is, the city is still pretty much a mess. No Suzanne today; she's totally snowed in.

Winnie did traffic for the first two reports, just until Jeremy got here.

Tons of cancellations, schools, flights, you name it.

Aaron plays us a little "Obama Girl" video, and he tells us about a little political discussion he got into at the gym yesterday. Tasso tells us a story about how he almost had charges brought up against him at his gym.

Time for our Bryan Adams contest - no winners yet, but we're working on it! Going to see him in Vancouver is a pretty amazing prize.

Any guys who read Vogue out there? I didn't think so, just Aaron.

Alphonso Gagliano is on the phone to let us know that first of all, he's not coming in today, and secondly, about how expensive it is to be a public citizen.

Winnie is back on the phone. She did a good job on traffic, but now she wants to try her hand at news. Tammy doesn't think that would be such a great idea.

Blast from the past, everybody's pal Todd Gakk is on to take over for Mo this week (!) it's been a while...

We're outta here!

Please don't snow.

“They were stonewashed”

Aaron kicks off the show telling us that being grumpy is in your genes! Which leads Tasso to wonder what happened to his genes…?

“I’m sorry. Is this 3?”

The discussion turns to the invention of the telephone and what the first ever wrong number probably sounded like. It’s like you were actually there!

Our pal Dave is a little confused about the time change this weekend – don’t be like Dave, turn your clock forward before you go to bed on Saturday night! To that end, we play our “modified Turn “forward” time song.

Winnie calls and tells Aaron everything is settled with his Ritz bill, but Tasso has a little problem with his dog Max.

Out of the box song is by a new singer named Duffy. Her song is a big hit in England called “Mercy”

Jean-Pierre has your French word of the day – another good one!

Robert Palmer as our Friday theme and we’re out of here!

Frozen Dinner

We're waiting for even MORE snow, can you imagine???

OK - we're close to breaking a record snow fall, I hope we don't...

Everybody has some stories about getting stuck in snow, seeing other people stuck in snow, and helping them.

Diane Squires did her OWN Top 4 on the air - she was great as well!

"Moses and Chong"

Aaron plays us what it may have sounded like when Moses got the 10 Commandments if he were, um, never mind.

Winnie has more bad news for Aaron. Some good, but mostly bad. "Tour of Booty"?

Our buddy Dave is on to ask Aaron a question. A couple of questions actually. He also needs something from Tasso.

"Please don't snow!"

A little Willy-Nilly chant to keep the snow from falling. Again.

Boiling rain

Bad weather, again. Believe it?

Crazy drive coming in so be careful! Lots of flight cancellations, school cancellations, you name it. We're keeping you up to date as best we can.

A guy calls from the airport to tell us how bad it is at the airport "it's a zoo!" get it?

Pauline Marois has quite a complicated word of the day "Worcestershire" ay yi yi...

Tasso needs to buy new underwear, and everybody's trying to help! (sort of)

Time for our "Tolls" song. Nobody wants to pay any more just to take a bridge, but what can you do???

Not only do we have an amazing Bryan Adams contest coming up, we ALSO have Eric Clapton tickets! Can you name the song? ( I can't)

Tasso is trying to read the school cancellations, but he keeps getting interrupted by a really, really rude kid!

Lenny is on the phone telling us just how bad it is out there. Yup, he's just getting here now.

Aaron closes with an interesting story about how men are doing more housework than ever before. (it's true!)

Be safe, bye!

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

It's taking it's "toll" (get it?)

Toll booths, snow, Victoria's Secret bras, you name it.

We're expecting snow and nobody's too thrilled about it. We're also not thrilled about the new tolls coming in.

Our pal Alphonso Gagliano calls to borrow a few bucks to tide him over since he'll only get paid every two weeks. Poor guy.

"Gas is too high" from back in the day (around 4 years ago) 89.9! Now we all wish it was that cheap...

Winnie the PA has bad news for Aaron, and worse news for Tasso's dog Max, he's worried about the snow. What were those movies again?

The Mayor is here telling us how "great" it'll be to have toll booths back in Montreal, who does he think he's kidding?

Hey a new product! The Po-tazer, what a time saver. Thanks to Popeil and the folks at Tazer industries.

Manic Monday

"Waaambulance"

Thanks to all the winners who came out for our Dusk till Dawn celebration! We had an awesome time, and I think you guys did too!

Today's show is brought to you by the letter "R" for rain, which is on it's way.

A discussion starts over whether or not you could have a store that sells one of everything; 1 sheet of paper, 1 shoe, that sort of thing.

Aaron is trying all kinds of cold remedies, yes, he's sick again. I dunno about this Bay leaf thing though.

Our ex-boss Ted Silver is on telling Aaron about all the songs NOT to play.

Hayley Sales is in the house! She's playing her single "Keep Driving" live right here in the studio and she sounds incredible!

(There'll be a picture of her up a little later)
